Next-Generation ECDN Solutions
We have become used to live streaming as the next big thing when it comes to sports or other public events in recent years. But with video making up 75% of all the world’s internet traffic1, which is even set to increase in the upcoming years, live video is no longer limited to private consumption – it has advanced into a medium for business-critical communication. The future of workplace communication holds a growing market for enterprise video management software that is ideally met by peer-to-peer-based ECDN Solutions. Companies and organizations that want to empower their employees with the benefits of state-of-the-art internal communication via video streaming are facing a major technical challenge. High bandwidth requirements, rollout difficulties, and significant costs are only some of the problems that can be avoided with Strive’s next-generation webcast solution Flink Enterprise.
How ECDN Solutions Can Benefit Your Business
An Enterprise Content Delivery Network delivers video behind the corporate firewall or inside the corporate network. The opportunity of live video distribution in an enterprise comes with tremendous advantages. For starters, the human brain loves video: 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual2. No other medium conveys a message as quickly and efficiently as a video. This comes in handy when trying to convey crucial content to employees, especially in a global context and is all the more reason to make sure your enterprise content delivery network is up and running – because of a reliable ECDN
Why Live Video Distribution Is A Challenge For The Enterprise CDN
A person watching a 720p HD video stream (e.g. broadcast of a company event like a town hall meeting, a financial report or a speech from the management board) consumes a download bandwidth of around 1.7Mbps. Delivering this live stream to two company sites with 1,000 and respectively 2,000 active viewers would lead to a required network bandwidth of 1.2Gbps for the smaller site and 2.4Gbps for the larger site for this video stream alone.
This kind of network traffic from an ISP results in a negative viewer experience, or even a complete network outage. The entire internal network infrastructure suffers from bandwidths of this extent – which in the worst case leads to the shutdown of business-critical applications. Next to the high amount of enterprise bandwidth, other issues concerning today’s company webcasting solutions include compatibility problems between the local client software, different OS, machines, and network types.
Strive tackled this challenge and developed the most innovative ECDN solution for existing enterprise network infrastructures: A webRTC-based peer-to-peer content distribution network that is highly scalable, dynamic, cost-effective, and easily deployable. Flink Enterprise establishes a direct connection between devices that reduces the bandwidth requirements by up to 95%.
